Mydolls / Anarchitex PERFORM at ORANGE SHOW HTX APRIL 1

That’s right. CIA bands Mydolls and Anarchitex will be playing for the first time in over 3 years. And we can’t wait!!

Join us Saturday, April 1 from 10am-5pm for “Old, Weird Houston”
at the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art
2334 Gulf Terminal Dr, Houston TX 77023.

FREE with reservations made at this eventbrite link!

This a celebration of the things about our city we love, in danger of being swallowed by the shadows of cheaply built high rise condos and expensive chain stores. There will be speakers, displays and vendors of Houston history memorabilia galore; CIA Records will be participating with a table full of merch and old collectibles from Bob Weber’s coffers.

From the words of Orange Show curator, Pete Gershon:

“Houston at mid-century was a place where anything seemed possible, from an air-conditioned domed stadium to a monument to the orange to a trip to the moon.

Organized in collaboration with Archivists of the Houston Area (AHA!), the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art presents a local history fair spotlighting oddball ephemera from collections both public and private.

Throughout the day area archives and individuals from across the Southeast Texas region will showcase the oldest, weirdest curiosities from their collections. Vendors will offer Houston Proud swag, bites, and beverages.

A speaking program explores the writings of hardboiled newspaper columnist Sig Byrd; the rise and fall of counterculture rag Space City News; the rescue and conservation of the Hyde Park Miniature Museum; the original story behind the Art Car Parade; and a panel discussion about the Orange Show’s history and the landmark restoration effort that lies ahead. The afternoon concludes with a set by mydolls [and Anarchitex], their first performances in several years.”

So come on out with all your family and friends. It’ll be an unforgettable day.
(And, um, no.. it’s not an April Fools joke ;) )
