Viva Tío Nan

An experimental acoustic collaboration between Bob Weber, Scott Ayers, Sonia Flores, Erin Rogers, Sal Velasco and Josh Applebee, that emerged from an improvisational studio session in May 2021.

A request from The POPEBOY Collective for some drum tracks instigated the initial studio session. Bob invited Sonia Rogers and recording engineer Josh Applebee, whom he’d never met, invited two more players. They improvised and recorded the acoustic instruments live.

The first reaction from The Collective was cool. Sonia and Bob took the recordings to Scott Ayer's studio and fiddled with them; life intervened, making everyone pause for a while.

The spring of 2022, Scott added his guitar sounds, improvising with drums and bass viol. Momentum grew…a simmering in Houston's steamy summer with camaraderie and concentration produced something unexpected…
